👏 Last week (Sept. 22–26), our American Sign Language classes celebrated Deaf Awareness Month!
✨ ASL students shared short facts about American Sign Language, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community during morning announcements.
🤟 Students in all four ASL levels also signed the Pledge of Allegiance together, showcasing their learning and respect for this beautiful language.
We are proud to celebrate and honor the traditions, language, and folklore of the Deaf community — an important part of the rich tapestry of American culture. 💙

This experience is designed to help break down barriers and connect students with an important community resource. For some of our students—especially those living in rural areas—it can be surprising to learn how close the library is to school.
The goal is for every student to have the opportunity to get a library card and explore after-school programming tailored for their age group. Middle school is a time of growing independence, and this is one more way for students to practice making positive choices on their own.
We are grateful to continue this tradition and can’t wait to see how our students take advantage of all the library has to offer! 🐾

On Monday, our high schoolers played Family Feud during lunch in honor of Spirit Week. The theme was “Under the Sea” to match our upcoming Homecoming dance. After some fierce competition, the juniors came out on top! 🎉

They have been learning how to think critically about the media they consume—recognizing bias, identifying credible sources, and understanding the monetary incentive media companies have to keep audiences engaged. Students also examined how social media algorithms often prioritize content that sparks strong emotions, which can result in sensationalized stories, spin, and even increased polarization.
The classes also discussed the impact of today’s media environment on our democracy and how it shapes public opinion and civic engagement.
👩🎓👨🎓 These conversations are helping students grow into thoughtful, informed citizens who can navigate the complex media landscape with confidence.

Kick off the celebration at the Annual Ada Powder Puff Football Game this Sunday, September 28th at 6:00pm at the Ada War Memorial Park Stadium!

Students in Mr. Ames’ English class didn’t just read poetry today—they experienced it! 📝 Mr. Ames shared that to truly learn rhythm in poetry, it helps to move—put your body in rhythm.
To start, students watched a short video of Michael Jordan and broke down the poem by Hanif Abdurraqib, “It Is Maybe Time to Admit that Michael Jordan Definitely Pushed Off.” From there, they headed outside for a walking practice activity, putting rhythm into motion. 🚶♂️🚶♀️
Hands-on experiences like these make learning both engaging and memorable—way to go, Bulldogs! 💜💛
